Question 1

How do I set up JalKhata for my business?

Accepted Answer

Sign up with your phone number, then follow the onboarding wizard. It walks you through your business details, first plant location, and product catalog - all in one go. Most businesses are fully set up in about 5 minutes.

Question 2

Can I import my existing customers?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can add customers one-by-one or in bulk. We can also import your existing customer list (from Excel, a diary, or anywhere else) during onboarding - just ask us.

Question 3

Do I need any technical skills?

Accepted Answer

No. If you can use WhatsApp, you can use JalKhata. The interface is simple, works in Hindi and English, and we offer free setup assistance.

Question 4

Does JalKhata work on my phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes. JalKhata works in any mobile browser - your drivers can log deliveries right at the customer's door. There's also a full Android app on the way for an even smoother experience.

Question 5

Can drivers really use it without experience?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Drivers see only what they need: their trips, their customers, and big tap-friendly quantity buttons. Most delivery boys learn the whole flow in a single 30-minute session, and the app is available in Hindi.

Question 6

How does stock & returnable tracking work?

Accepted Answer

JalKhata tracks jars, cans, and bottles across three locations - plant, vehicle, and customer. Every movement (delivery, collection, load, unload, adjustment) is recorded in a double-entry journal, so you always know exactly where every returnable is.

Question 7

Can I print or share invoices?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Invoices can be downloaded as PDF and shared. The invoice includes your business details, delivery line items, and amounts. You can also share them directly with customers.

Question 8

Does JalKhata work for non-water businesses?

Accepted Answer

JalKhata is purpose-built for water and beverage distribution - deliveries, returnable containers, and plant-based stock. If you sell other products, the app adapts: any product can be marked returnable or non-returnable.

Question 9

Can I track empty jar returns and deposits?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Returnable products track both delivered and collected quantities per delivery, per customer. Running per-customer returnable balances show you exactly how many jars each customer holds.

Question 10

Is there a free plan?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Free plan is free forever - up to 15 customers, 1 plant, and 1 driver. No credit card required. When you outgrow those limits, contact us for the Paid plan - unlimited customers, drivers, and plants, plus GST invoicing, priority support, and more.

Question 11

What's the difference between monthly and yearly billing?

Accepted Answer

The Free plan has no billing at all. For the Paid plan, we work out monthly or yearly billing directly with you when you get in touch - yearly billing comes with a discount over paying month to month.

Question 12

Can I cancel anytime?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Cancel anytime with a single message. No contracts, no lock-in, no hidden fees. If JalKhata doesn't earn its price, you shouldn't be paying for it.

Question 13

Do you charge per user?

Accepted Answer

No. Every plan includes your whole team - Owner, Manager, and all your drivers, at no extra per-seat cost.

Question 14

What if I'm offline during delivery?

Accepted Answer

JalKhata is designed for delivery routes, including areas with poor connectivity. The app tracks your connection status, and deliveries queue up to sync the moment you're back online.

Question 15

Is my data safe?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your data is stored securely in the cloud with proper authentication and authorization at every level. Driver roles only see their own data, managers see operations, and only owners see settings.

Question 16

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Accepted Answer

Your data belongs to you. You can export it at any time, and if you cancel, you can take your information with you. We'll also help you export your customer list and balances if you need it.

Question 17

Is identity/phone verified for security?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Login is phone + OTP based - no passwords to forget or leak. Each team member signs in with their own phone number, so there's a clear audit trail of who did what.

Question 18

How do I get help if I'm stuck?

Accepted Answer

Email us at hello@jalkhata.in or reach out through the contact form. We typically reply within 24 hours, and we'll happily hop on a call or WhatsApp to get you sorted.

Question 19

Is there onboarding assistance?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We offer free setup assistance - including importing your customer list and walking your team through first use. Just ask.
